Important safety note
A rewarding wilderness hike, but proper preparation is essential. Weather conditions can change quickly, with strong winds, intense sun, and occasional rain possible at any time of year. Carry sufficient drinking water for each day's hike, as there are no reliable water sources along the trail (water is available only at the overnight huts). Wear sturdy hiking shoes, sun protection, and layered clothing suitable for changing conditions. The trail is home to wildlife, including baboons, ostriches, antelope, and snakes. Observe all animals from a safe distance, never feed wildlife, and keep food securely packed away. Cell phone reception is limited in parts of the reserve, so hikers should remain with their group and always follow their guide’s instructions.
