Choosing the right trail begins with understanding its level of difficulty. Our 5 ‑level trail scale is designed to help you select a hike that matches your fitness and experience, ensuring both safety and happiness. Think of it as a roadmap where each rating provides a clear indication of what to expect, helping you choose the trail that excites you most.

1/5 – Easy
These trails follow well-maintained paths with flat or gently undulating terrain. They require little physical effort and are ideal for beginners, families with children, casual walkers, or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the beauty of nature at a relaxed pace.
2/5 – Moderate
Expect gentle climbs and uneven sections of trail. These routes are well suited to recreational hikers with a reasonable level of fitness who are looking for a little more adventure without tackling steep or highly technical terrain.

3/5 – Moderately Strenuous
These hikes involve steeper inclines, rocky paths, occasional stream crossings, and more challenging terrain. You may encounter technical features such as ladders, staples, chains, or ropes, depending on the route. A good level of fitness and some previous hiking experience is recommended to comfortably enjoy these trails.
4/5 – Strenuous
These routes traverse rugged mountain terrain and often include sustained climbs, exposed sections, scrambling, and stream crossings. They require strong endurance, good balance, and confidence in more demanding environments. Best suited to experienced hikers who are comfortable spending extended periods on the mountain.

5/5 – Very Strenuous
Our most demanding hikes are reserved for highly experienced hikers. The routes involve significant elevation gain, exposed scrambling, loose rock, off-trail navigation, snow, and may require specialised equipment depending on the season and location. They command excellent physical fitness, sound judgement, and advanced mountain experience.
